I remember when I was a little kid it was a really special time to go to eat fast food. Basically, I either went with my family – mainly my dad – or babysitter. In our downtown’s main shopping center (my town was very small) there was a Burger King. I come from a university town and that particular Burger King was known as a popular hangout for the college kids. Anyways, there were two methods of getting there: One – Dad’s old Chevy Nova (pre-1980 for sure!) or walking with the babysitter. Going with the babysitter was always fun because my twin sister and I felt grown up and ‘cool’ at the time.
Walking into the BK was always so amazing. I can remember the exact smell of the hamburgers and can even visualize the big people behind the counter serving them along with fries and cola. I can just picture myself now looking up to that counter and feeling so small! I even remember my first time trying a BK shake – It was a large strawberry. Oh, was that good! I wasn’t allowed to get any shakes with my parents because they were “too expensive” and “bad for my teeth” so I remember cherishing the moment trying a milkshake for the first time with my babysitter friend. I remember just how much of a treat it was for my twin sister and myself to go. I think we went only once every few months because we were often reminded that it was “fattening” and “expensive”.
Anyways, over twenty years have passed since those treasured trips. That BK is long gone and has since been replaced with a bagel shop as bagels are considered more healthy fast food these days. But, fast food restaurants have come a long way since the 1980s. They now service tons of great meals including lots more healthy options including fruits and salads. And, with the invention of the Internet and the widespread availability of fast food coupons it’s much more affordable to eat in these places. So, the kids of the early 2000’s are just so lucky and they should be taken out to eat as often as possible!

While coupons are an excellent marketing method used by companies for promotion purposes they’re much more important to everyday citizens as a way of saving money, or spending less of their hard earned salaries. Indeed, when collecting and using coupons in an intelligent the average citizen can save hundreds if not thousands of dollars of the span of several months to a year.
Prior to the growth of the Internet in the 1990s most people collected coupons by cutting them out of newspapers, magazines and fliers they received in the mail.
